  • Pupils urged to turn over some new leaves

    Kevin Unitt

    01 May 2008

MILVERTON Primary School launched a book swap facility on Friday (April 25) as part of county-wide plans to mark the National Year of Reading.
Pupils at the Greatheed Road school can now bring in their finished books and swap them for another, in the first of a range of events planned by Warwickshire County Council to encourage people of all ages to read more - be it books, newspapers, magazines or even online.
A national library membership drive is also now in action, where anyone signing up as a new member of a library in Warwickshire will get a free copy of a new book - while stocks last - and a free voucher for a DVD, CD or talking book.
County council schools spokesman John Burton said, “I encourage everyone to take advantage of the events going on around the county in a variety of different venues.
"This partnership of schools, libraries and schools library services aims to reach not just children but their parents, carers and adults of all ages."
