THE CAREERS of two Warwickshire College students are really taking off.
Terri Haines and Amy Mottram, who are both 19 and from Leamington, are looking forward to flying high as they embark on a career on long-haul flights with British Airways.
For both students it fulfils a long-held ambition to travel the world working as part of an airline cabin crew - and with BA considered one of the top airlines to work for, competition is fierce to land a job on its long-haul flights.
Both attended Myton School, then went on to the BTEC National Diploma in Travel and Tourism at Warwickshire College’s Leamington Centre, followed by the BTEC Intermediate Certificate in Airline Operations (Cabin Crew).
Tracey Davies, the students’ delighted course tutor and course manager, said: “It’s just top of the tree and it’s what the course is all about. I have been long haul for BA and worked in recruitment for them. A lot of students leave college and we have one this year with Flybe and with Monarch but it’s a really good thing to get two in for long haul with BA.”
Both students will do five weeks training with BA in London then be given their flight rosters and find out where in the world they will be flying to.
Terri said: “It’s always been my dream to travel since I went to America when I was 15 and that started my ambition to work as a cabin crew.”
Amy said: ““It was something I’d always wanted to do ever since I was a kid and I got on a plane."
The Airline Operations (Cabin Crew) course runs for two terms from September to Easter and gives students training to help get a job in the flight or travel industry. For further details call 01926 318000.
