PUPILS from Warwick Prep School have been crowned Northern and Midlands Regional Netball Champions.

The Under 11 squad travelled to Nottinghamshire recently to defend Warwick Prep's title and after some tight matches against tough opposition they managed to win their group.

After more close encounters it came down to a match against Witham and Leeds Grammar in which the teams were all-square and so faced a tense 'golden goal' situation where the first team to score would be crowned champions.

A school spokesperson said: “The girls were incredible at holding their nerve - unlike their teachers and mother - and the defence calmly brought the ball to the attackers who fed a great ball to Sophie Cons to score the winning goal.

“What a brilliant way to round off the day.

“The headmaster and the PE staff were incredibly proud of the ten girls - Eleanor Birks, Sophie Cons, Evey Hadley, Beth Hammond, Lily Hawking, Katie Rankin, Nadia Rohregger, Anna Stone, Emma-Jane Taylor-Watts and Milly Truman.”
