Stourport 2 Khalsa 8

CHAMPIONS Khalsa bounced back to Midland League Premier Division winning ways in emaphtic fashion on Saturday.

Khalsa, who suffered their first defeat of the season seven days earlier, quickly signalled their intent with Gurminder Singh Ghattaura hitting an early double.

The opener came from a short corner, while the second owed much to a splendid individual run from Jas Singh.

The back four of Jay Nagra, Pummi Singh, Chris Darling and Scott Angliss were not without defensive duties as the hosts pulled one back from a smart counter-attack.

The response was immediate from the visitors with some slick movement between England masters Adie Betts and ex-Great Britain international Scott Cordon who created an opening for Dharminder Singh to finish.

Ghattaura turned provider by leaving Dharminder Singh with a simple tap-in at the far post early in the second half.

Ghattaura completed his fifth hat trick of the season by converting a rebound from a short corner.

Chris Darling went close before Ghattaura added his fourth goal of the day after Mickey Hayer unlocked the home defence.

Keeper Nick Mills produced some excellent saves before being beaten by a short corner strike but Khalsa finished strongly and were rewarded with a double from Dharminder Singh which took his individual haul to four goals.

Khalsa complete their impressive campaign by entertaining Telford and Wrekin this Saturday.

Khalsa celebrated their second championship success of the season with the 2nds lifting the West Midlands League Premier Division title after hammerting Shrewsbury 7-1.

League top scorer Anit Chudasama led the way with a double to which man of the match Amritpal Singh Atwal 2, Andrew Pell, Ruggy Baden and veteran Lakbir Singh Atwal added.

The 3rds came from behind to record a splendid 2-1 victory over Bridgnorth thanks to second half goals from man of the match Sanj Hayer and Harnaik Singh Hayer.
