MASKED raiders used cutting equipment to try to steal from a cash machine in Heathcote, Warwick.

Up to five people are known to have been involved in the attempted theft, which took place at about 2am on Tuesday morning (July 31).

The cash machine, fitted to the exterior of the Heart of England Co-op on Cressida Close, was targeted with a metal cutting device.

Smoke generated during the attempted theft set off the smoke alarm in the premises, resulting in the fire service attending.

The cash machine was extensively damaged, but no money was stolen.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
