Compton Verney Festival

THE COMPTON Verney Festival is set to have the country house art gallery rocking again this summer.

The three day festival, running from July 1 to 3, promises music and song, family fun, and some tasty treats.

The live music stage will feature the self-proclaimed ‘hardest working band in the world’ Chain of Fools headlining on Friday, folk-rockers Leatherat closing Saturday night, and the 18-piece Simon Kemp and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra delivering R&’B, soul and funk out on Sunday evening.

There will also be a strong emphasis on supporting local talent and providing a major showcase for up-and-coming artists, with perfomances by Coventry singer-songwriter Kristy Gallacher and Stratford’s Trees and Queens, alongside Devon-based Tobias Ben Jacob and Luke Drinkwater.

Away from the music, there will be plenty of other hands-on activities from circus skills to hula hoop sessions, and stilt-walkers to balloon modellers.

A traditional fun fair will also be setting up in the Capability Brown-landscaped grounds, including helter-skelter and dodgems, and plenty to eat and drink, from pulled-pork and paella, to locally produced beer or cider.

Compton Verney director Dr Steven Parissien said: “Our wonderful Summer Festival makes for a brilliant day out for – and, for us, is a brilliant way of showcasing all there is to offer in our incredibly diverse site.

“Compton Verney isn’t just about art and nature. We’re also about live music, about rides and games, about food and drink. At Compton Verney we simply want you to have fun.”
