Dr Jephson Players - The School For Scandal

DR Jephson’s Players are preparing to take the stage in Leamington with an 18th century farce next week.

The group will be performing Sheridan’s The School for Scandal in Jephson Gardens on Friday July 10 and 11.

Lady Sneerwell, a notorious scandalmonger, plots to separate Charles and Maria because she wants Charles.

With the help of Joseph – Charles’ brother who wants Maria for her fortune – she tries to implicate Charles in an affair with Maria’s guardian’s wife or herself.

But Joseph and Lady Sneerwell’s schemes are exposed mostly through the help of Sir Oliver, a friend of the guardian who goes undercover to investigate the brothers.

The Players’ aim has always been to present lively and colourful versions of classic plays or children’s shows over the course of about an hour – and recent productions have included everything from Wind in the Willows to The Merchant of Venice.

The production, which is free to attend, can be seen on the Friday at 7.30pm, and on the Saturday at 3pm and again at 7.30pm.
