Fashionably Late at Leamington's Loft Theatre

Leamington Editorial 5th Jun, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

GINNY Davis brings her new play Fashionably Late to Leamington’s Loft Theatre for one night only on Saturday June 15.

Fashionably Late finds Ruth Rich and her family preparing for a joint birthday party to celebrate dad’s 60th and Fred’s 18th.

Then tragedy strikes. Should the party go ahead? Can it? But where there’s a will there’s a way, and calling upon its never-say-die spirit the family find the way to bring off an unforgettable celebration.

Ginny is joined on stage by newcomer James Goldsworthy, who trained with the Year Out Drama Company and is a founder of Popinjay Productions.

Between them they share a dozen roles, ranging from a punk shop girl to Ruth’s only slightly bonkers Welsh granny.

Ginny said: “My aim in writing Fashionably Late was to create comedy from a genuinely sad subject without it being tasteless or dark.

“James is a gifted and funny actor. Quite simply, he’s a natural.  I’m delighted to be performing alongside such a talented 21 year-old. He is just as thrilled to be sharing the stage with a woman old enough to be his grandmother. He’s never said so, but you can tell, can’t you?”

Curtain up at 7.30pm. Visit www.loft-theatre.co.uk for tickets.
