Sir Willard White joins Armonico Consort for Christmas concert

SIR Willard White will be joining Armonico Consort for a Christmas concert at Warwick Arts Centre.

The opera star will perform Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Warwick-based choir and orchestra on Sunday December 20.

Born in Jamaica, Sir Willard is one of the best-loved and most versatile opera stars of the last 40 years.

His career has taken him to the most prestigious opera houses and concerts halls throughout the world, collaborating with the greatest conductors, directors and orchestras.




For the arts centre concert, Sir Willard will be joined by top soloists Gillian Keith, William Towers and Nathan Vale, together with the Armonico Consort choir and orchestra under music director Christopher Monks.

And on Tuesday December 22, Armonico Consort choir give a Carols By Candlelight concert at St Mary’s Church in Warwick.


It will feature traditional favourites, and well-known carols and some new works, including The Astronomer’s Carol, a new piece by composer-in-residence Toby Young.

* THE MELLSTOCK Band give two concerts of Christmas at the Lord Leycester Hospital in Warwick next week.

The band end the first half of Leamington Music’s tenth winter season with concerts on Tuesday and Wednesday (December 15 and 16).

They will perform The Leaves of Life, music in the English tradition from carols to revels and from the Alehouse to Church Gallery.
