THOSE who dream of an acting career may now have their chance by helping to bring the works of Shakespeare to life – or death in this case – at Warwick Arts Centre.
Comedy theatre company Spymonkey is looking for a local woman with no prior theatre experience to play the part of ‘Lady Death’ in a performance showcasing all 75 deaths from the Bard’s work.
The woman must be over 60 years-old and is required to sit at a table at the side of the stage with some knitting, ignoring what is happening on stage.
Each time someone dies in play ‘The Complete Deaths’ – which will be performed by four clowns – she must hit a big red button and maintain a straight face.
Director Tim Crouch said: “We encourage our Lady Death to be self-effacing – to not perform but just to be in her own world. It will be a world that provides a brilliant counterbalance to the frenzy of the performance.”
The show will be held on Thursday October 6 and Friday October 7 at 7.45pm.
