A MODERN-DAY Romeo enlisted the help of a Leamington pizza shop to make a cheesy long-distance date night one to remember.
Juliet Harris recently moved to the town to study biochemistry at Warwick University, leaving heart-broken boyfriend 26-year-old Richard McKeever at home in Belfast.
To keep romance alive the pair hold weekly date nights on video chat Skype, where they both order their favourite Domino’s pizza.
Wanting to show his 21-year-old girlfriend how much she meant to him, coffee shop assistant Richard arranged for both of their deliveries to arrive at the same time.
But Juliet got more than just a tasty cheese and tomato – her driver brought flowers, champagne and candles, and even a violinist to serenade her.
She said: “To say I was shocked was an understatement, it’s not exactly your normal pizza delivery. It caused a bit of commotion on the street too as people stopped to stare and my neighbours didn’t have a clue what was going on. I was so touched and overwhelmed that Richard managed to pull this off – definitely a twist on our usual pizza night in”
And the kind-hearted branch owners are doing their part to keep love alive by providing the couple – who met online – with pizza for their long-distance dates and flights to Belfast when Juliet next visits.
Store manager Dejan Vukelic said “They say distance makes the heart grow fonder but we are delighted we could keep romance alive with Richard and Juliet. Working closely with the Belfast store team we enjoyed the challenge of this extra-special co-ordinated delivery and wanted everything to be perfect. We wish the couple the very best for the future.”
