Appeal after attempted robbery at Hatton Country World

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at Hatton Country World over the weekend.

The manager of the garden centre and farm shop was cashing up around 5.50pm on Sunday (April 12) when an unknown man tried to force his way into the building.

The alarm was raised by the manager and the man ran off towards the overflow car park. He was last seen crossing the technology college site towards Hatton train station.

The man is described as in his late 20s to early 30s, around 6ft tall and of slim build.

He was wearing a black, grey and white camouflage ‘urban’-style jacket with a hood, dark trousers, grey trainers and black gloves.

Anyone with information is asked to call Warwickshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

In January two men were jailed after pleading guilty to taking part in a robbery at the popular tourist attraction and possessing offensive weapons.

The pair – Craig Covington and Steven McNulty – were part of a gang of four who targeted staff in July last year and threatened to hack off one woman’s fingers with a machete if she did not open a safe for them.

The group stole more than £4,000 in cash during the terrifying raid.
