THE ART in the Park festival will return for a second year.
Following the success of the inaugural festival last year, the two-day event, which showcases the work of 60 artists and features live performances from bands and theatre groups in Jephson Gardens, is set to take place over the weekend of August 1 and 2.
Around 2,000 visitors are expected to attend the free event with a range of creative hands-on opportunities available including clay pot making, flora and fauna inspired screen printing and designing your own t-shirt.
Organiser Carole Sleight said the aim of the festival was to celebrate the wide diversity of local artists and create a space to demonstrate their skills and show their work, while also inspiring others to take up an artistic pursuit.
She said: “As well as celebrating talented artists from all disciplines, the festival makes the arts accessible to the community and gives people of all ages the chance to enjoy and try art in the beautiful setting of Jephson Gardens.
“We’ve been overwhelmed by the positive response from artists, musicians, performers, dances and workshop providers and this year’s festival promises to be packed with art and entertainment.”
Stephanie Kerr, executive director of BID Leamington, said: “In its first year, the Art in the Park Festival demonstrated a huge desire among local artists exhibiting and people attending for such an event to celebrate the wealth of artistic talent within Leamington.
“It’s fantastic to be supporting the festival as it makes a comeback this year and rightly becomes part of the town’s annual calendar of events.”
