Bad weather causing severe delays around Warwickshire

Leamington Editorial 9th Mar, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

RAIN has caused long delays on roads around Leamington and Warwick.

The A46 between the Birmingham Road, Budbrooke (A425) and M40 junction 15 by Sherbourne is currently closed because of an accident.

The Longbridge Island has now reopened after being closed because of an accident and flooding.

The M40 southbound between Gaydon (junction 15) and Banubry (junction 11) is partially blocked and traffic is queuing for a mile because of an accident involving four vehicles.

And the M40 southbound between Henley and Longbridge is slow because of surface water.

The Oakley Wood Crematorium road (B4087) and the Fosse Way from Leamington both have areas of flooding across them.

The Environment Agency have issued a warning about Finham Brook in Kenilworth which was at a height of 1.7metres just after midday. People are warned river levels are expected to peak at 2.2metres by 4pm.

The Warwickshire Operational Police Unit have asked drivers not to attempt to drive through flood water as many vehicles are becoming stranded.

Schools are also being affected by the bad weather – currently Leamington Hastings Church of England Academy, Loxely Primary School, Snitterfield Primary School, Temple Herdewyke Primary School, The Dassett Primary School and Wilmcote Primary School are closed today.
