WHAT do a Vespa motor scooter, a gym bench, a lawnmower, an empty fish tank, a garage door, several large oil drums, a mattress, a sewing machine, shopping trolleys, bicycles, road work signs and assorted tyres have in common?
The answer is they were all pulled out of the Grand Union Canal in Warwick during the latest clean-up by Inland Waterways Association (IWA) on Sunday.
Volunteers – including students from Warwick University, Tesco staff, canal enthusiasts and residents – grabbed a grappling hook to drag the junk dumped in the canal around Emscote Road Bridge.
A litter pick along the towpath also filled several plastic sacks.
The clean ups are held twice a year. Email [email protected] for further details.
