DRIVERS were stuck in long tailbacks following a car fire on the M40 near Warwick.
Firefighters were called to junction 16 to 15 on the M40 southbound where a car was ‘well alight’.
Two lanes were closed as crews worked to extinguish the blaze at around 11am on Saturday (August 6).
A spokesman from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received multiple calls to a car on fire on the southbound M40.
“Two appliances were mobilised and crews confirmed one car on hard shoulder of motorway well alight.
“Police and Highways were also in attendance.
“All crews had returned to stations by 1pm.”
