THERE’S nothing like a dame to bring a bit of glitz to proceedings.

And champion of older people Dame Esther Rantzen was on hand to officially open new Leamington retirement development.

Arlington Lodge – which includes 51 one and two bedroom private apartments – on Arlington Avenue.

She said: “I believe wholeheartedly in keeping your mind active as long as you can, by finding company that you enjoy, sharing time with people you like and doing things that you find engaging.

“It has been heartening to meet the owners of Arlington Lodge and hear so many positive stories from them.”

Dame Esther founded The Silver Line in 2012 with the aim of combating loneliness and isolation among older people and has worked closely with Churchill Retirement Living to set up The Churchill Awards which are an annual celebration of the achievements of the over 65s.
