Dedicated nurse pulls on boxing gloves for Myton Hospice

IT was a knockout for a dedicated Myton nurse who took up boxing for the charity.

Senior staff nurse Andy Houghton recently took part in a boxing competition and just days later in a dragon boat race to raise money for Myton Hospice.

All of his training took place around gruelling 14 hour shifts, but that still did not stop him going to the gym after work.

Andy, who has worked for the hospice for six years, said: “Knowing I was raising vital funds for Myton really kept me going through both events. I am very proud to work at Warwick Myton Hospice and by taking part in these events I not only wanted to do my part to raise money for but also to demonstrate how lucky I feel to work for such an amazing local organisation.

“I hope the money I have raised from these two events will play a part in helping us to continue caring for and supporting patients and their loved ones for years to come”

So far Andy has raised more than £400 but he hopes to add more to that total to support the hospice, which requires more than £8 million in funding a year to continue running.
