DOGS Trust has bagged nearly £4,000 from Co-Op shoppers.
Sales of 5p carrier bags have helped raise £3,850 for the rehoming centre in Kenilworth, which say they will put the money towards veterinary and training costs.
Branches of the Heart of England Co-Operative across Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire generated more than £30,000 in carrier bag sales, which has been shared among local charities.
Dogs Trust spokeswoman Helen Barlow said: “This money comes as a welcome donation.
“Here at Kenilworth we have around 180 dogs in our care at any one time. We have a non-destruction policy so rather than put a dog down we are supported in various ways including our network of foster carers and sponsors whose invaluable support is of direct benefit to the dogs.”
