Man arrested in connection with Leamington nightclub death released without charge

ONE of the two men arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man outside a Leamington nightclub has been released without charge.

An altercation is believed to have taken place between two groups in front of Moo Bar on Russell Street around 1am on Sunday morning.

A man was assaulted on Russell Street 20 minutes later and sustained serious head injuries.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he later died.




Police have named the victim as 28-year-old Rugby man, Robert Bavington. Specialist officers are understood to be supporting the family, who have asked that their privacy be respected at this time.

Two 30-year-old men – both from Birmingham – were originally arrested on suspicion of murder following the incident.


One man has been released without charge but another remains in custody.

Police would like to speak to people who may have witnessed the incident.
