A MAN has been jailed for three years and nine months years after a stabbing outside Leamington’s Pump Rooms.

Ibrahim Diallo, of no fixed address, was charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm when he appeared at Warwick Crown Court.

The 21-year-old attacked a man in his 20s, injuring his shoulder. Police recovered a lock knife at the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital where he was treated for his injuries, which were not life threatening.

A 17-year-old boy from Warwick was also arrested in connection with the offence. He was released on bail pending further enquiries and has now been charged with wounding with intent.

He is due to appear at magistrates court in Leamington on December 23.

Detective constable Thomas Quinn hopes the sentence shows how seriously knife crime is taken.

He said: “We welcome this result which exemplifies how seriously knife crime is taken by both the police and the courts.

“Fortunately knife crime and other violent crimes are rare in Warwickshire, but when they do occur, we will act swiftly to ensure those responsible are brought to justice and the public is protected.

Not only is it illegal to carry a knife in public without good reason, we would urge people to think very seriously about the consequences of carrying one- knife crime can ruin lives.”
