Leamington Editorial 18th Mar, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THE HUNT is on for a rapist who struck in Leamington in broad daylight.

The 19-year-old victim was attacked along the riverside walk between Willes Road and Newbold Comyn – off Newbold Terrace East – between 5.30pm and 6.30pm on Friday (March 13).

The victim was raped by a man, who called himself ‘Tom’ or ‘Thomas’, and who is described as of medium build, in his mid to late 20s with dark brown hair. He had a pale spotty complexion, bushy eyebrows and was clean shaven.

He spoke with a local accent and was smoking a cigarette when he approached his victim, who did not know him.

At the time of the incident he was wearing dark blue jeans, a grey top with long sleeves and a black jacket.

Det Insp Graham Farren said: “This was a very serious and frightening attack by a stranger. We are doing all we can to trace the suspect.

“We would urge anyone who may have been in the area at the time, and may have seen anything suspicious to contact police. “We are also appealing for anyone who may have seen a man matching this description in the area.”

Anyone with information should call Warwickshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
