A BUDDING actor from Leamington was chosen from over 1,000 auditionees to win a place with the National Youth Music Theatre Company.

Princethorpe College pupil Sebastian Dibb will be performing in their production of The Piper of Hamelin’ which will be touring theatres this summer.

Following an initial all day audition at Birmingham’s Hippodrome Theatre where he had to sing, dance and work on improvised scenes, the 12 year-old was called to a second audition in London, where he again impressed the selectors.

He later received an email inviting him to join the company that has been the spring board for well-known actors such as Sheridan Smith, Matt Lucas and Idris Elba.

An excited Sebastian – who has already performed in two Royal Shakespeare Company productions – told The Observer:“I couldn’t believe it when I found out I’d been accepted. I just can’t wait to start work with them.”

A residential rehearsal week will take place in April before The Piper of Hamelin will set sail across various festivals and theatres across the country over the summer. The 50 minute children’s opera with music features a cast of 40.
