A ‘SECRET’ garden at Brunswick Hub is looking its blooming best.

A five-strong team of volunteer gardeners entered the hub for this year’s Leamington in Bloom competition, and came out highly commended in the garden, hanging basket and container categories.

On a weekly basis the green-fingered group meet to tend to the flowers, decked area, and tomato patch at the centre on Shrubland Street.

Last time the centre was entered into the competition it received a silver prize, and the volunteers had hoped their hard work would once again pay off.

Hub chief executive John Wilde said: “The garden here is a real gem. We call it our secret garden because it’s tucked round the back out of sight.

“It is a lovely space used regularly by the staff, visitors and volunteers. The team always make it look lovely, but this year they made huge efforts to get it ready for Leamington in Bloom.

“This certificate is going to take pride of place in our hub as recognition for all of the hard work and dedication from our gardening volunteers.”

Brunswick Hub is a centre which provides health and wellbeing services, such as employment advice, dementia support, fitness classes and a cafe providing home-cooked food.
