Sir Elton John's Maserati goes under the hammer

A LUXURY car previously owned by Sir Elton John is going under the hammer near Leamington.

The 2005 Maserati Quattroporte V was owned by Sir Elton until 2010 and has nearly 30,000 miles on the clock.

The car – which has only had one other owner – is set to be sold by Classic Car Auctions on Saturday March 19 at Warwickshire Exhibition Centre.

There is an estimate of between £15,000 and £17,000 on the vehicle – which comes complete with its own driving gloves, a rear DVD player and a Maserati certificate with Sir Elton’s name on.

Car specialist Arwel Richards said: “This is a wonderfully rare opportunity to buy an example of Italian exotica which goes like a rocket man.

“The vendor should still be standing as he waves goodbye along the yellow brick road to the auction rostrum.”
