Sledgehammer-wielding robbers strike at Warwick jewellers

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after sledgehammer-wielding robbers struck at a Warwick jewellers.

Masked raiders smashed the windows of Russell Lane Jewellers in High Street in the middle of the afternoon on Thursday June 25.

Police were quickly on the scene and arrested two men around 2pm, but a further two men are believed to have escaped with the haul.

Det Sgt Lisa Sears said: “This was a brash incident in broad daylight.




“There were many people around and we are interested to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who can offer information that could lead to the identity of the offenders or recovery of stolen property.

“Sledgehammers have been recovered. They appeared new and may have been bought locally.”


Nobody was hurt and the shop remained open through the afternoon.

Warwickshire Police are keen to identify and speak to a group of men seen near the private car park of Mitchell House on The Butts about 10.30am earlier the same day. Police are also keen to identify the vehicle they used.
