Sunday library closures will save £100,000

Leamington Editorial 18th Jan, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

LEAMINGTON Library is set to close on Sundays as council chiefs look to save cash.

The Pump Rooms library – one of the largest in the county – is currently open for four hours on a Sunday, but proposals to save £100,000 would see the opening hours, and those of libraries in Rugby and Nuneaton, reduced to six days a week.

The decision whether to consult on the proposal will be held on Friday (January 22) and is recommended to be approved.

A consultation where the public can have their say will be held from February 8 to March 21.

Library services, including book renewals, can still be carried out 24 hours a day, seven days a week by visiting www.warwickshire.gov.uk/libraries or calling 01926 499273.
