A MAN was knocked unconscious during a fight outside a Warwick pub.

Police were called to the Elephant and Castle in Emscote Road around 11.45pm on Friday (March 27).

It is understood the two men had been involved in a row in the smoking area outside the front of the pub and when police arrived one of the men – a 30-year-old from Warwick – was unconscious and had to be taken to Coventry’s University Hospital by ambulance.

He suffered a serious head injury and was said to be in a serious condition.

A 20 year-old man, also from Warwick, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident.

Police want to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw a black VW Golf and silver Vauxhall Vectra leaving the area shortly before midnight.

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
