HISTORY has been made at Kenilworth Golf Club following the election of Ann Saywell as president.

Ann is the first lady president of the club and one of her first duties was to host the ladies President’s Day at Crewe Lane at which she treated the golfers to welcome refreshments at the half way house and afternoon tea at the conclusion of their round.

The morning winners were Betty Galsworthy, Sue Jordan, Judy Langford and Janne Kent, while the winning team in the afternoon was Karen McKenna, Lynda McCarthy, Jill Symonds and Angela Guest.

Meanwhile, the ladies Mercia Carpets competition was yet again generously sponsored by Ollie and Vicky Pearman.

The morning teams enjoyed another dry round but the afternoon players had to cope with torrential rain and the winners were Pauline Moyers, Chris Machin, Sandra Melling and Nina Noon.

Good conditions led to some excellent scoring in the June Medal on Saturday.

Paul Kirby 74, nett 67, emerged triumphant in Division A from Oliver Murray-Bates 78, nett 68, Sam O’Sullivan 78, nett 69 and John Sweeten 80, nett 70.
