LEAMINGTON produced an heroic performance to force Altrincham into a replay in the first round of the FA Trophy.

Altrincham play their football two leagues higher than the Brakes but Paul Holleran’s side raised their game after coming from behind to claim a 1-1 draw on Tuesday evening.

Jack Edwards fired just over the bar after some neat build up play on 11 minutes and Lee Moore forced Tim Desay into a smart stop around the half-hour mark.

But after a goalless first half, the home side took the lead through Damian Reeves in the 70th minute and they could have doubled their advantage had it not been for a fine save by skipper Tony Breedon.

Instead with 14 minutes remaining substitute Rob Ogleby was put clean through on goal and bagged the equaliser despite being in the pitch for just 20 seconds.

Both sides had chances to win the match but it remained 1-1 to the delight of Leamington and the replay will be played on Tuesday (December 22) at the New Windmill Ground.

Brakes a back in league action this Saturday when they host Biggleswade Town looking to catch up with Southern League Premier Division leaders Poole Town.
