CHRIS McKeown led a strong team of almost 50 Spa Striders home at the popular Kenilworth Half Marathon event on Sunday.
McKeown’s personal best time of 1:20.37 was enough to secure eighth place overall on an undulating course that was pleasant for runners although the unrelenting head-wind did cause a few problems.
Trevor Wilkinson was next across the line in 1:23.46 to cross the finish line in 17th overall and second in the V45 category. He was closely followed by Pete Soley (1:25.32), Simon Parsons (1:28.12, PB), Adam Notley (1:29.18) and Dan Fleming (1:29.52, PB) which completed the scoring team for the Warwickshire Road Race League points.
There were also PB times for Andrew Bonjour (1:30.27), Tom Holbrook (1:38.52), Luke Turner (1:46.09) and Doug Rattray (1:46.45).
Spa Striders ladies were led convincingly by Carolyn Wilkinson whose time of 1:29.26 was enough to finish sixth overall in the women’s category and first in the V45.
Clare Hinton (1:39.05), Sue Cox (1:41.14) and Anne Hurrell (1:41.46) completed the winning ladies team, cementing their lead in the Warwickshire Road Race League.
Both Lorraine Parsons (1:48.59) and Catherine Friggens (1:52:01) recorded personal best times at the event.
