Cleary’s boxers set for return to the ring

Leamington Editorial 10th Sep, 2015 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THE NEW boxing season gets back underway this Friday with five Central England Belts up for grabs as Cleary’s Boxing Club hosts a stella undercard of local boxers at the Assembly Room.

Promising young boxer Danny Quartermaine will be the headline act when he takes to the ring against Morgan Bosley.

Teenager Quartermaine has been tipped by coach Edwin Cleary to have a bright future in the sport and he comes up against a boxer with a similar reputation as being a big hitter.

Quartermaine’s performances have caught the eye of the England selection team, while Bosley won gold in the Haringey Box Cup, where he was victorious with two impressive stoppage wins, so both fighters will be looking to put on three rounds of mouth-watering boxing for the CEB Youth Lightweight title.

Hot prospect Lewis Williams is also in action when takes on current Tri-Nations Champion Coree Clarke (Warley) for the  vacant CEB Youth Heavyweight title.

It is a battle that pits Williams’ height over Clarke’s aggression and their contrast of boxing styles should make for an excellent contest.

The other local boxer on show include Liam Timms with the Clearys boxer taking on Nathan Samuels (Merridale) in his first defence of the CEB Novice Middleweight title.

CEB Youth Welterweight Champ Grant Attwood (Worcester) makes the first defence of his title against the inexperienced but dangerous Connor Fanning (Hall Green).

The vacant CEB Novice Welterweight Belt is up for grabs as Jug Raj Singh (Merridale) takes on unbeaten Ishmael Ellis (3-0, DnA).

Unbeaten CEB Novice Light Heavyweight Champion Conah Walker (Merridale) makes the first defence of belt against the heavy handed Nick Cartwright (Empire) in a battle of big punchers.

And Jordan Thompson (Jewellery Quarter) goes toe-to-toe with Mitch Roberts (Tom Lowe) for the vacant CEB Elite Middleweight title.

Tickets for this Friday’s show are priced at just £11 and doors open at 7pm.
