AN IMPRESSIVE batting display by Dave Edmunds saw him scored 73 off just 55 balls as Kenilworth recorded a winning draw on the road at Aston in the Warwickshire League Division One.

After being put in to bat first in a game reducec to 43 overs, Kenilworth made a positive start with the in-form Guy Pearson (39) and skipper Chris Prophet (28) helping them along the way before Edmunds hit his aggressive innings which included five fours and five sixes.

Together with Matt Dargan (36), the Kenilworth pair put on 90 for the third wicket and Tom Booker made a cameo of 23 as the visitors made a very decent 267 for 8 from their 43 overs, with Tahir taking 3 for 49 for home side Aston.

Aston made a strong start in their reply, and got to 59 without loss but when leg spinner Brad Fern was introduced, the home slipped to 69 for 4.

Fern was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 27 off ten very good overs, and there were wickets also for Phil Edmonds (1 for 28), Matt Dargan (1 for 30) and Pat Howard (1 for 9), but Kenilworth were unable to force the win.

Aston finished on 177 for 7 from their 43 overs with Javed (65) and Ahmed (45) stopping the visitors from collecting their first win of the season, but a winning draw and 17 points were reward for the side’s efforts.
