A HAT-TRICK of charities were the winners as Coventry and Warwickshire professionals took each other on in a major new football tournament.

A total of 16 five-a-side teams competed in the Lloyds Bank Banking Group Charity Outdoor tournament at Central Ajax in Warwick and raised almost £3,000 for Children In Need, The Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Help Harry Help Others.

The tournament was the first in a series of charity events organised by Lloyds, with the aim of raising £70,000 in a year with events across the region.

But as well as collecting the charity cash, they also took the silverware as their Real Estate team were victorious in the final.

Organiser Phil Davies, who lives in Warwick, said the event could well become an annual fixture after its successful debut.

He said: “The evening went really well and we had great support from a whole host of professional companies from Coventry and Warwickshire and further afield.

“Several of the companies fielded mixed teams and the whole event was played in a good spirit and we were delighted to have made so much money for such worthy causes.”

The companies taking part included Luckmans LDP, Harrison Beale & Owen, Wright Hassall, Band Hatton Button, Advent Communications, Arthur J Gallagher, Freeth Solicitors, Cranfield Business Recovery, Burgis & Bullock, Colliers International and Askews.
