WARWICK kept their promotion hopes alive with a four-wicket victory over third-placed Highway Spartans on Saturday.

Skipper Matt Warren won the toss and elected to bowl first and his decision was rewarded as Paul Jackson claimed five early wickets to leave Highway reeling on 44 for 5.

Peter Auguste led the fightback for Highway hitting eight boundaries before he was eventually dismissed by Jorg Singh for an impressive 43.

Once Auguste was dismissed the tail struggled against Singh and Rajan Bhatti and the visitors were dismissed for 100 in 38 overs.

Jackson finished with 5 for 39, while Bhatti was on 3 for 8 and Jorg Singh chipped in with 2 for 26.

Warwick struggled against the new ball in reply as they slipped to 40 for 5 with Bhaven Mistry taking 3 for 22.

Rajan Bhatti (25) and Jorg Singh (20 not out) continued their good form sharing a crucial partnership of 48 to leave Warwick on the verge of victory.

And Tom Haley eased any nerves scoring (10 not out) off just 7 balls as Warwick secured the win in the 34th over.
