Higgitt wins qualifier at Kenilworth Golf Club

TOM HIGGITT provided the highlight of the De Montfort qualifying competition at Kenilworth Golf Club with a hole-in-one on Saturday.

The two-handicapper claimed his coveted ace on the 140-yard 7th hole which helped card 75, nett 73, but it was not enough to get him in the placings.

Fellow two-handicapper Dean Sparrow 70, nett 68, finished top of Division A from Christopher Reynolds 73, nett 68, Paul Morgan 80, nett 69, Steve Taylor 77, nett 69, and Andy Collins 82, nett 69.

Mark Tutin 82, nett 65, took the honours in Division B from Julian Box 85, nett 67, Mark Hollingsworth 85, nett 70, Simon Fitzgerald 85, nett 70, and Phil Heaton 86, nett 71.




Meanwhile, the midweek May Extra Medal was won by Andrew Bryan with 41 points from Richard Moon 38.

David Sutherland triumphed in Division B with 39 points from runner-up Paul Belfield 38.


Elsewhere, at Warwick Golf Club Danny Buckingham carded a net score of 61 to win the Eddie McGrath Memorial Trophy.

Club champion Buckingham carded a 67 gross minus 6 handicap for an impressive net score of 61 in the annual event.

He was closely followed by Chris Lincoln and John Harris who both carded 63.

And Rich Betteridge won the Secretary Shield at Stoneleigh Deer Park last week with a score of 62.

Betteridge beat captain Ian Carden on the count back to win the competition.
