Kenilworth suffer relegation from Warwickshire League Division One

ANOTHER heavy defeat this time at the hands of Bedworth consigned Kenilworth to relegation to the Warwickshire League Division One.

A season of disappointment finally came to end for a much weakened Kenilworth side who fell to a 113-run defeat.

Bedworth were restricted to 197 all out after Friswell (68) and Pickering (56) put on 77 for the second wicket although they were aided by a dropped catch early on.

Chris Prophet turned out to be the unlikely star with ball snapping up a fine 5 for 45 and Jorjeet Singh took 2 for 19 while there was a wicket apiece for Jake Sunderland, Joe Boyle and Dave Edmunds.

Kenilworth started their innings well and reached 74 for three in no time with Tom Brooker aiding the attack with a fine 48 in a knock that saw him hit five boundaries and two sixes.

However, after he fell, the rest of the batsmen were unable to deal with the leg spin of Jakeman who took 3 for eight in his eight overs and the off spin of Peacock who took 5 for 12.

Kenilworth capitulated and were skittled out for a paltry 84 inside 22 overs as they lost their last 7 wickets for 10 runs inside 11 overs.

The side will re-group over the winter months, take the positive moments of the seasonĀ  and hope for more continuity and availability of players as they adjust for life in Division One for the 2016 season.
