Lanes opens season with Kenilworth win

CONSISTENT Daniel Lane opened the new season at Kenilworth Golf Club in fine fashion on Saturday.

The talented three-handicapper carded a level-par 71 to take the top honours in the April Medal and PGA Qualifier at Crewe Lane.

Lane posted the best gross score and also finished top of Division A by one shot from Steve Taylor 77, nett 69, Mark Newbold 79, nett 69, and Nick Wright 78, nett 69.

Adam Newbold 78, nett 67, also enjoyed a successful outing by winning Division B and claiming the PGA Qualifier spot.




Mark Bolshaw 83, nett 68, continued his good run of form by finishing runner-up on countback from Bob Harrison 79, nett 68.

The Division C winner was Stewart Freeman 84, nett 68, from Andrew Walsh 85, nett 69, and Richard Williams 88, nett 69.


Meanwhile, the Prentice Trophy was lifted by the top foursomes combination of Richard Keegan and Dean Sparrow 70, nett 67, but only on countback from Adrian Penny and Colin Smith 83, nett 67.

Keegan and Sparrow, who also shot the lowest gross score, now go forward to represent the club in the 2016 Daily Mail Foursomes competition.
