Maximum points for in-form Leamington Squash Club

LEAMINGTON Squash Club came out on top after hosting an over-35 event are now in with a chance to win promotion.

Over the weekend of October 17-18, Leamington welcomed Cambridgeshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Ulster with all five teams battling battled in the opening round of this season’s county championships.

The Warwickshire side was made up of Leamington players past and present, including Sam Miller, Nick Staunton, Pete Knowles, Marcus Hayes, Neil Staunton and Neil Bennett.

The hosts started the championship well by securing comfortable 5-0 wins over both  Cambridgeshire and Leicestershire.




Ulster proved to be the toughest team over the weekend, but Warwickshire managed to progress from this tough Division 1 county group to reach a promotion play-off final which will take place next year, and they will be joined again by Ulster.

“The team showed their class this weekend and I was delighted and extremely proud of all our individual performances,” said Warwickshire captain Peter Knowles.


“I am looking forward to next year and the opportunity of playing for promotion into the county premier league.”
