THE NEW season at Warwick Racecourse gets underway later this month with the Racing UK Season Opener Raceday which takes place on September 20.
Warwick, which is one of the oldest racecourses in the country, will host 17 fixtures between September and May, including the Down Under Raceday the following week.
The Down Under Raceday on September 29 is Australasia themed and will feature a number of Down Under inspired entertainment, including music, a quiz and even a didgeridoo workshop.
The theme is inspired by general manager, Andre Klein, who spent 16 years working in the racing industry in New Zealand and Australia before taking over at Warwick Racecourse late last year.
Warwick heads into the new season on the back of a highly successful 2015/16 campaign, which saw attendances and the number of runners increase.
The Jockey Club racecourse has invested in improvement works on and off the track over the summer, including the integration of the flat track with the National Hunt course.
“We are really excited the new season is upon us,” said Klein. “A lot of hard work has gone into making improvements on and off the track over the summer and I can only see us going from strength-to-strength this season.
“The inaugural Warwick May Racing Carnival was a fantastic way to finish the season strongly, and after following this up hosting some really well attended events off the track in the last few months, our efforts have all been geared to September 20 and the strong racing programme ahead of us.
“Over the course of the year we’ve attracted a lot of people back to Warwick Racecourse who haven’t been to a raceday here for some time, while also welcoming a significant number of new visitors.
Advance tickets for the two racedays start from £12.50 per person and are available from www.warwickracecourse.co.uk. Gates open for both fixtures at 12.10pm, with the first races at 2.10pm.
