YOUNGSTER Olivier Weeks has been crowned Under-14 Giant Slalom English Alpine Champion.

The 13-year-old was one of nearly 500 racers from a range of nations who descended on the slopes of Bormio in Italy for the English Alpine Ski Championships over the weekend.

For the English skiers it was all about their one chance of the season to battle it out for the honour of becoming an English Champion.

And on Sunday Weeks took the Under-14 title at the event which was organised by the National Governing Body Snowsport England.

There was also success for Stockton-based teenager Ollie Eaton who claimed the title of English U21 Super G Champion.

Under sunny skies and on a well-prepared course, the 18-year-old claimed the age group title as well as finishing third overall amongst the English skiers.

Ollie said: “I was really pleased with my results today. I am hoping to put in some more good results this week and ski to the ability I can ski to.”

The Championships, organised by National Governing Body Snowsport England, is a key event on the National skiing calendar, and is well known as a platform for the rising stars of skiing, including the likes of Chemmy Alcott and Dave Ryding who is currently competing on the World Cup circuit.
