WARWICK Racecourse have added to their refreshed working team by appointing Jane Hedley as new clerk of the course.

Jane, who is currently clerk of the course at fellow Jockey Club Racecourses Nottingham and Market Rasen, will take up the position in January 2016.

She will combine her new role at Warwick with continuing her work at Nottingham.

Originally from south-east Scotland, Jane joined Jockey Club Racecourses in 2012 and qualified as a clerk of the course the following year when she took on both Nottingham and Market Rasen.

Jane has 15 years experience in the racing industry, having previously worked as yard manager for Mark Johnston Racing in Leyburn.

She will join ranks with the refreshed team at Warwick who include general manager Andre Klein, sales and marketing co-ordinator Rachel Kirkby and business development executive Sheryl Caswell.

Now in its second year as an national hunt track, Jane said she’s looking forward to joining Warwick Racecourse in what is an exciting time for the historic course.

Jane added: “It is a really exciting time to be joining Warwick Racecourse with its focus as an all-jumps track.

“I am looking forward to taking on a fresh challenge and helping to solidify Warwick’s position as one of the premier small jumps tracks in the country.

“I am very proud of what we have achieved at Nottingham and Market Rasen over the last few years with both tracks now holding the ROA Gold Standard Award in recognition of their excellent owners’ raceday experience.

“Being Clerk of the Course for Nottingham and Warwick will work well as Nottingham is a summer Flat course and Warwick is a winter jumps course.

“I will be sad to leave Market Rasen but am delighted to have been given this new opportunity.”

Jane will take over from Sulekha Varma, who has been clerk of the course at Warwick and Huntingdon since 2012.

Liam Johnson, trainee general manager at Warwick Racecourse, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Jane to Warwick Racecourse where she will bring great experience.

“We wish Sulekha well and look forward to Jane working with our new General Manager Andre Klein, who will be taking up his role in November to enhance Warwick’s profile as one of the leading small jumps courses in the country.”
