OLYMPIAN Naomi Folkard tasted success once again after coming away from the first leg of the Indoor World Cup with a silver medal.

The Leamington-based archer secured a score of 565 at the event held in Marrakesh last weekend which put her second behind Berangere Schuh of France.

Shooting was at a small three-spot target face over 18 metres and Folkard scored well throughout the head-to-head rounds.

She beat Veronique Saint Dizier (France) in three sets (6-0) and Randi Degn (Denmark) 7-3 before getting the better of Emilie Lacroix of France 7-3 in the semi-final.

This brought her up against Schuh to shoot for gold but it was the latter who was on top form and despite a close match, Folkard had to settle for silver.

Folkard, who won gold at this event last year, said that although disappointed not to have repeated last year’s success, she felt that she had shot well and was pleased with her shooting at this stage in the season.
