Teenager Jacob Finch claims fourth win

DESPITE a series of minor setbacks youngster Jacob Finch won his fourth fight at the home of Walsall Football Club and once again showed why he is a potential champion in the making.

After losing his bag on the way to the venue when the car boot flew open on the motorway last Thursday, Jacob had to rush about to find appropriate clothing and more importantly he lost his inhaler.

But despite borrowing a gum shield from his brother Josh and wearing a pair of gloves too big for his hands, Jacob showed no signs of breaking and fought superbly to defeat his more experienced opponent Sam Guilt.

Guilt, from Priory Park ABC, had been boxing for four years and was Midland Champion but Jake dominated the fight from start to finish and won by a unanimous decision.

“How many young fighters could of went and done this in only his fourth fight with a smile on his face and thinking it was funny.” said coach Edwin Cleary.

“That’s the first time he’s gone the distance having KO’d his first three opponents. I believe he’s going to take some stopping in the Novice Championships in 2015.

“We’d like to get Jake in with Warwick ABC’s Joe Horrocks as soon as possible on a local show and then as much as possible over the next six months. Jake could stay unbeaten for a long time.”

Jacob’s brother Josh also competed on Thursday in a skill bout and showed signs he could go on to be even better than his brother.
