OLD Leamingtonians’ Under-18s edged home to a second league win of the season after beating Banbury 10-8 at The Crofts on Saturday.

Resplendent in their new kit, courtesy of sponsors Denso, OLs forwards took the game to Banbury, but were met by stout defence.

This early pattern was maintained throughout the game with OLs on top up front, but the pacey backs from Banbury causing problems with limited possession.

A try and a penalty put Banbury into a narrow eight point lead and it seemed they would hold on. However, OLs strength in depth began to show, and Banbury tired as they were unable to call on similar reserves from their bench.

Finally, OLs got on the board as the pressure told with captain Sennen Scobie breaking away to score a try.

From the restart, OLs attacked once more and as the clock began to run down, Alex Witchell’s cross kick was fielded by Callum Semple who scored wide out, giving OLs a narrow two point lead and with time almost up, Banbury were unable to react as OLs hung on for a narrow win.
