SWIMMING - Junior swimmers retain league title

Leamington Editorial 23rd Sep, 2023   0

LEAMINGTON Spa Amateur Swimming Club’s junior team created more history after retaining the prestigious Nuneaton and Bedworth Junior League Division One title.

The club’s young swimmers, between the ages of nine and 12-years-old, competed in a mixture of individual and relay events at Pingles Leisure Centre in Nuneaton.

And after LSASC edged into a narrow five-point lead with 12 events to go, the club’s young stars eventually clinched the title finishing 15 points ahead of runners-up Nuneaton and Bedworth.

A superb finish to the event secured the title for Leamington with parents roaring on in support from the stands.

City of Coventry finished third with Boldmere, Blythe Barracudas and City of Worcester further back in a highly competitive final.

Captains Sam Mann and Ellie Watson collected the trophy on behalf of the team.

A dedicated team of volunteer coaches and teachers coach the club’s junior squad.

The competition took place over three qualifying rounds with the top six teams advancing to the final.

LSASC head to the National Finals later this year.
