CALLY Stewart scored for the third league game in a row as Leamington leapfrogged promotion rivals Hitchin Town in the table with a 2-1 away win.

Stewart opened the scoring before Ewan Williams doubled the Brakes lead just past the hour mark with Bradley Bell on target for Hitchin at Top Field.

And the result means Leamington sit third in the Southern League Premier Central table after extending their unbeaten run to eight matches.

The Brakes broke the deadlock on 19 minutes when the in-form Stewart finished at the second attempt after Hitchin stopper Charles Horlock kept out the striker’s initial effort.

And the visitors doubled their lead on 61 minutes as Williams diverted Henry Landers’ shot into the far corner and out of Horlock’s reach.

Hitchin reduced the deficit six minutes later when Bell ran through and produced a good finish as the Brakes saw out the remainder of the game to seal an impressive away victory.

Leamington are next in action away at Needham Market on Tuesday, December 5 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Bloomfields.
