Former restaurant knocked down to make way for new drive thrus

Leamington Editorial 19th Jun, 2024   0

THE LONG derelict former Frankie & Benny’s restaurant at Leamington Shopping Park has been knocked down this week to make way for two new fast food outlets.

The building, next to Sainsbury’s petrol station, had stood empty for six years but the site is now set for a new lease of life with two new drive thru’s – operated by KFC and Five Guys respectively according to unconfirmed reports.

It would mean a return to town for KFC, which previously operated a drive thru just a stone’s throw away, until it closed in 2015.

Five Guys, which has more than 170 outlets throughout Britain, was founded in the USA in 1986 and specialises in hamburgers.

The new drive thru’ units will be bespoke designed with contemporary anthracite and timber detailing according to architects The Harris Partnership.
