KENILWORTH RFC slipped to the bottom of the table following a heavy 76-19 defeat at Burton.

The home side crossed for three tries as Adam Collingwood dotted down twice after Scott Randall’s effort opened the scoring at Battlestead Croft.

Kenilworth now sit bottom of the Regional 1 Midlands table having lost all four of their opening matches.

The visitors took an early lead when Randall finished off a fine move following sustained pressure on the Burton line with Will Morgan adding the extras.

Burton responded with a penalty try to level the scores soon after before the home side ran in three further tries to secure a bonus point.

Kenilworth hit back shortly before half time as Collingwood scored out wide and Morgan kicked the conversion.

However, Burton crossed for their fifth try to head into the break with a 17-point lead.

Burton ran away with the game in the second half as the home side scored four more tries to take a commanding lead.

Collingwood’s second try gave the away side a glimmer of hope as they chased a try bonus point.

However, Burton crossed three more times to inflict another heavy defeat on the visitors.

Kenilworth are next in action against Derby on Saturday, October 12 with kick-off at 3pm at the Jack Davies Memorial Ground.
