ALEX Davies scored a century as Warwickshire claimed their first One-Day Cup victory with a 62-run win against Northamptonshire Steelbacks.
Davies starred with the bat while teenager Tazeem Ali took five wickets with the ball for the Bears at Rugby School.
Warwickshire posted 291-8 from their 50 overs and bowled Northants out for 229 in reply.
The Bears won the toss and elected to bat but slipped to 32-4 as Rob Yates, Zen Malik and Hamza Shaikh all fell for ducks.
However, Davies (123) scored at a rate of a run-a-ball in a 109-run fifth-wicket stand with Kai Smith (50).
And the Bears’ tail order scored well as Michael Booth (45 not out) and Jake Lintott (37) pushed the hosts close to the 300-run mark.
Warwickshire took early wickets in reply as Ed Barnard (2-40) helped restrict Northants to 73-4.
And middle order batters George Bartlett (47) and Justin Broad (43) both fell just shy of half-centuries as Ali (5-43) struck twice in as many overs.
Ali also accounted for Rob Keogh (15) and Dom Leech (0) on his way to a five-for as the Bears eased to a 62-run victory.
Warwickshire are next in action against Kent on Wednesday, August 13 with play to begin at 11am at Rugby School.
